A brief pictorial look at a day at the 2011 Australian Velocette Owners Club Rally...just finishing in Toowoomba, Queensland after running all week....
Well I didn't enter this years Australian National Velocette Owners Club rally, held at Toowoomba in Queensland, but I made the long trip up from Sydney for an overnight stay, taking in the club's AGM...well I am editor of the Club's magazine Fish Tail down Under and as I'm heavily involved in the planning of the next years 2012 Annual Rally I needed to make a presentation...something the organising group has done for some years....
As in past years the rally runs for a full week, operating as a "hub" rally where entrants leave daily for pre-arranged rides with morning tea and lunch stops and evening activities...trivia nights, a talk by Jim Day on the 24hr record Velocette... 100mph for 24hrs over 18-19 March 1961....
Where is Toowoomba..? Other than it is some 1000+ km from Sydney where I live.....
As usual there were entrants from all over Australia and a team of Velocette stalwarts from New Zealand led by the Mickelsons.....
The rally was held in the spacious grounds of a Catholic church children's camp...conveniently vacant at the time we needed it...
You don't see many Amal TT carb. equipped Velos in Oz...
This owned by former IOM TT rider Dennis Fry...the heel toe gear lever and bicycle pedal kick start indicative of racing injuries past....
A typical rally scene....
Becoming a regular "Exon Valdez"...Jim Day's oil stained Venom, which seems to defy all his efforts to keep the oil in the engine/oil tanks....
Doug Farr's early Clubman Venom....
Armchair puncture repairers......
Robert Pound starts his 1938 MSS....
Bob Milner, proprietor of the Sydney firm Classic Allparts...prepares to ride his nice 1966 Velocette Thruxton......see-

Dave Royston with and enduro Velocette...unsure if it is an endurance model as supplied by Veloce....
Bruce Phillip's mk.2 KSS and Colin Hanger's Venom with special white faced "Velocette" instruments curtesy of DQ/KTT....
On the floor of the Club's AGM...chairman Keith Canning with Jim Day...
An attentive audience....
The Kiwi contingent listens in...
Next year...2012...the Rally moves to Bundanoon in the Southern Highlands of NSW.....
See you there....
