The motorcycle aftermath of WW2..........

Following WW2 the UK ( also in Australia) army disposed of the many despatch rider motorcycles it had utilised during the conflict. Apart from purchasing new WD motorcycles from many of the British Motorcycle factories, many civilian motorcycles were called in and impressed into service.
During 1946, at a large holding area near Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, the army disposed of these bikes in lots of five, mostly to motorcycle dealers hungry for stock to sell.

As well the motorcycle factories who had originally supplied them, purchased them back, altering their colour from the war drab khaki to the usual, then, civilian black.
